So here I am. A dozen blog posts later I realize, I really don't like the name of my blog. It's sort of arrogant and stupid and trite and cliche and... I do go on sometimes. Anyway, I want it to say something about who I am. I think if I just figure that out, the perfect name will come to me. Until then, we're going to test out some new names. Now I know only a few people read this so your opinion really does count! Isn't that nice for a change? You could be the deciding factor in a monumental decision of miniscule proportions. Won't that look good on your resume?
Here are some names I'm toying with:
1. A.D.D./Perfectionism x Love(2) + I'm sorry = Family
(A little complicated but wrought with meaning)
2. Coming Out Me
(Simple but I kind of like it. Only it may imply I'm homosexual, and I don't want to mislead anyone.)
3. Ticker Tape Brain
(I don't even know what the heck that means but the image makes me think of what's in my head. Little floaty shreds of thought flying around willy-nilly inside my skull.)
4. One Part Poet, One part Sloth, 4 Parts Mom
(Really needs no explanation)
5. Wordy McWord-Nerd
(I really only included that because my family will find it, no, not funny, appropriate)
I think your only real options are going to be 3 or 4, but who knows... convince me.
Thank you for the shout-out! You are so sweet! And I want to say how HAPPY I am to see you blogging more frequently now! I think you are going to love doing it once you are on a roll. I wish I could write more often, but once a week is about all I can produce. OK so some names...I personally prefer short, snappy names because they are easier for me to remember.I like the idea of having the ADD in the name--there is a blog named ADD MOM which I think is cute. How about...for ADD you could call it Attention Deficit Diva...or Distracted Diva...I know you are not a diva, but I noticed that a lot of blogs that have a bit of snark in their title get quite a bit of attention. Or for ADD it could be: Another Darn Distraction....#2--yeah, sounds like coming out of the closet. Skip. #3 I like but not sure others will understand it. #4 made laugh!! I was thinking "Sloth Mom" but that sounds like you are lazy, which I also know you are not! ANY blog title with the word Mom or Mommy in it will get you more attention!! Again, there is another really popular blog called, "Insane In The Mom Brain" which I think is a cute name. The title alone draws people to it. #5 I also like but I would shorten it to Word Nerd. Any of these will do fine, but I think you might have more success adding Mom in there somewhere. Diva is popular, too, but you might not like that reference. Sometimes I wish I could change my blog name too, because when i first started out, no one wanted to read about a menopausal woman except for a few other middle-aged moms. And let's face it, the majority of your successful bloggers out there are moms in their mid 30's with young children. I realized after several months that I was missing the boat and needed to stop focusing just on hot flashes and aging in my post. It needed to be younger sounding, so I have changed it a LOT this past year--and I'm convinced that is what has made it so successful. You are on the right track here! There are some other things we can talk about to get you a lot more followers and views--but I don't want to take up all the comment space (like I already am!). Message me and we'll talk. I have good ideas.... and thanks again for the shout-out! XOXO
ReplyDeleteAnd oh yeah, you should TOTALLY go with the blog name My Brother is Freaking Awesome!! Lol!
DeleteHow about "Mommy can't help it - She has A.D.D."
ReplyDelete#1 is creative, but no one will remember it and it may confuse people. Unless you're gay, don't use #2. I like #5 the best.
ReplyDeleteWhoa. I need to change my freaky profile pic for this account.
ReplyDeleteYou're funny my friend!
DeleteI got it!!! Chronicles Of An ADD Mom!!!
ReplyDeleteI think I'm not convinced I want it targeted to moms. I haven't really posted much about the kiddo's and I don't know how much I will. I'll have to mull it over and make a decision soon. What have I gotten myself into?? LOL
ReplyDeleteI prefer 3 and 4 but 5 could also be a goer too. I didn't understand number 1 although it had meaning to you and the number 2 title did make me think that you were coming out as gay and writing about it.
ReplyDeleteOnce you've picked a name, it's about promoting yourself and getting people to find you. I'm so glad that you've got Menopausal Mamma there to help, you can't go wrong with her advice. She's an expert at this already, and yes, she has a great funny blog that keeps me in stitches.
Well, all the best with choosing, as long as you're happy then that's what counts :)
Hey RPD, thanks for stopping by. I'm still kicking around ideas and MM has given me lots to think about! She just goes about a mile a minute doesn't she? What a great creative mind she has!
DeleteHow `bout Traci`s place?
ReplyDeleteJust a thought.
I actually kind of like that. It's short and sort of almost rhymey which I always sort of like... I have such a hard time making up my mind!
DeleteThe best advice I can give (although you didn't ask for my advice at all, so feel free to ignore!) is to pick something that is catchy and easy to tell people. If it's too complicated, people will give up trying to remember it. I know you'll think of something great!
ReplyDeleteThanks, I appreciate you stopping by and adding to the conversation. Everyone seems to agree, short simple, catchy... Can you hear the gerbils whirring around in my head right now? LOL
